Eschalon: Book II Alpha Test This Month

The official Basilisk Games website has word that some early alpha testing for Eschalon: Book II will run this January. Eschalon: Book II will continue the storyline from where it ended in the previous game and feature more than 60 gameplay enhancements. The game is expected to be released Q2 2009 for Windows, Macintosh and Linux-based computers.

Art of War Revealed and Screens

Game Mechanic Studios has unveiled Art of War, a first-person shooter based on an original intellectual property (thanks: Blues). According to this Joystiq interview, Art of War will cast players in the role of a "reclusive millionaire" and art lover hilariously named Warren Canvas, as he revisits famous past battlegrounds. Two screenshots from the Obsidian Serpent level have been inserted in our gallery.

Sandswept Studios has revealed the development of DETOUR, a road-oriented Real-Time Strategy game that takes a satirical twist on highway construction, environmental activist groups, and cartoon humor. Players compete against each other and/or AI opponents to outsmart and out-build them. The goal is to build a road to the opposite side of the board and successfully deploy a delivery truck, without being stopped, and at the same time, stop your opponents from doing the same. KOEI has released a couple of new trailers for Nobunaga's Ambition: Iron Triangle, a historical simulation game produced by Kou Shibusawa and due to hit the store shelves across North America on January 27th, exclusively for PS2. In Nobunaga's Ambition: Iron Triangle, video gamers can step into the role of Feudal Japan's most powerful warlords and turn this magnificent vision of unification into a reality. Covering the entire country, with over 60 castles and 30 port towns, all of the game's planning, diplomacy, construction, and warfare take place on an expansive 3D map; a first for the series. Players can also maintain complete camera control to monitor the real-time development of each region or town, and to monitor the field and naval battles which they command in real-time.
